Molly Goddard
Born in London, Molly Goddard started her label in 2014. Goddard is known for the classic handcrafts she usually puts in her collections. The show stopper of her Fall/Winter 2019 collection during LFW was the neon pink gown . which doesn’t need any further explanation. Just check it out below.
Marta Jakubowski
Marta Jakubowski was born in Poland and grew up in Germany. While the designer is relatively new in the fashion scene, she has developed a characteristic minimalistic signature, with which she gained international recognition from stars such as Rihanna and Queen B. With her latest show, she got her inspiration from being a millenial and growing up in the 2000s, wearing whatever you like while showing some skin. We felt very nostalgic.

Simone Rocha
Simone Rocha debuted at London Fashion Week, Spring 2010. Since then, she’s been a consistent part of it. With the choice of models, Rocha displayed a show that had female empowerment and diversity high on its agenda. Combine this with hand-stitched garments, round silhouettes and some kind of spirituality and you’ve got a recipe for success.
Erdem
Think of some kind of flower bomb and you think of Erdem’s Fall/Winter 2019 show. The brand carries a flair of modern femininity with it. The brand experiments with the use of different textiles and materials. On top of this, the collection was based on the right of sexual freedom, inspired by the Victorian nightlife of the late 19th century. Despite this, it was just a party to look at and it makes us even more ready for spring.
Vivienne Westwood
Fashion designer Vivienne Westwood started designing back in 1971. Her namesake fashion house is one of the last independent global fashion brands in the world. Westwood is known for her involvement with politics, environmental issues and social issues. It doesn’t come by chance that this lady is regarded as the most influential fashion designer alive. Vivienne Westwood’s latest collection mainly consisted of organic cotton and recycled materials. Like no one else can do, Westwood ended the show with the quote: “Consumption is the enemy of culture.”
Highlights of London Fashion Week – common themes
At the start of London Fashion Week, the chairman stated that this week was marked by a multicultural line-up. It shows how open London is to everyone, also after the Brexit. However, next season will show whether or not this is true.
Also important: curvy model Felicity Hayward marched for body positivity, together with many others. They strived to reverse the tradition view of many about the way female models should look.
Some protests even got on the runway: fashion label Mother of Pearl partnered with the BBC to develop a collection entirely made of plastic. Marta Jakubowski celebrated female empowerment with her feminine collection, with contrasting fabrics. Each model had a flower in her mouth, which corresponded with the final note of the show: “She will not be silenced.” Amen.
