After her departure at Céline (now referred to as Old Céline, since it marked the end of an era) the news we’ve been waiting for way too long has finally arrived: Phoebe Philo Studio is. a fact. “Being in my studio and making once again has been both exciting and incredibly fulfilling. I am very much looking forward to being back in touch with my audience and people everywhere. To be independent, to govern and experiment on my own terms is hugely significant to me”, Philo explained.

On top of this, the creative director is very thankful for LVMH to have compiled a minority stake in the new venture. “I have had a very constructive and creative working relationship with LVMH for years. So it is a natural progression for us to reconnect on this new project”, she added.

Old Céline

It has taken three and a half years for Philo to launch her new brand. After her departure at Céline, the 48 -year-old took a much-needed break. Phoebe Philo Studio will be an independent clothing and accessory label. Philo’s reticence isn’t surprising – the creative director rarely gives interviews and doesn’t even have an Instagram account. Just like Bottega Veneta’s Daniel Lee, she is convinced that not being in the spotlight is a true luxury.

Until now, little is known about the soon-to-be-launched fashion label. The press release describes it as an “exceptional quality” brand, indicating it will belong to the top luxury segment, just as Old Céline and, for example, The Row. Furthermore, we predict that Philo will design and work according to her own schedule – instead of being dictated what to do by the leading fashion calendar. After all, Philo wraps herself in mystery – and it is expected her label will be as mysterious and stylish as the lady herself.
