Fashion brands to watch

Now that you know the Paris Fashion Week schedule, let’s take a look to some designer brands that are worth a visit, besides the big names such as Celine, Chanel and Isabel Marant.

1. MAME KUROGOUCHI

Designer brand Mame Kurogouchi may be hard to pronounce, but isn’t hard to remember after attending its show. This label is called “the new Sacai” for good reason. The Japanese designer is very good at combining Japanese culture and calmness with Western velocity. Kurogouchi finds her inspiration in the beauty of her daily life. It may be clear that this brand is one to watch.

2. PATRICK CUPID

Patrick Cupid is an American designer who “loves to buy fabrics”. It’s something that’s greatly overlooked in the world of fast fashion, he says. The New Yorker loves to educate his followers about fabrics and other fashion related business on his Instagram account, but his collections are worth a watch as well. Like no other, Cupid is capable of combining haute couture fabrics with everyday garments. About his 2019 collection, he says: “Beauty, softness, elegance, are employed by a confident hand capable of using those apparently innocent tools to construct a strength that carries a seductive appeal, flirtatiously sexy, but immensely empowering and liberating.

3. MASHAMA

Masha Ma is a Chinese designer commuting between Shanghai and Paris. She is one of the most well-known Chinese designers of the moment and therefore worth a visit. Her amazing streetwear inspired classy collections remind us of a mix between (old) Céline, Vetements and Balenciaga, but in a very original way.

4. JARELZHANG

Jarel Zhang was born in China and educated in London. He received two master’s degrees in fashion and presented his first collection during New York Fashion Week. This year, he shows his new collection at Paris Fashion Week and we’re very curious about what’s next. Expect exploding color clashes, fine materials and streetwear influenced pieces.
