Pantone color of the year

First of all: why is Pantone’s color of the year such a big deal? How will it influence our lives? What does it mean for the year ahead of us? Well, more than you might expect. For over 20 years, the Pantone Institute has selected its color of the year. Based on heavy analysis and thoughtful trend watching, Pantone’s color experts plow through the world looking for similarities and patterns. Based on a diverse range of industries, including entertainment, fashion, ravel, art and many others, cultures and the leading political climate, they derive a new color that summarized the world we live it, as well as the current needs we face. Apparently, we have a strong need for protection, grounding and stability this year.

The color of the year will influence many of us, as it affects buying decisions, product and fashion design, as well as packaging and graphic design. Consequently, 2020 will be covered in Classic Blue.

Classic blue

After Greenery, Ultra Violet and Living Coral, Classic Blue is the new color of the year. While last year’s Living Coral focused on the need for human connections and natural surroundings, we we’ll long for protection and grounding in 2020.

What will Classic Blue bring us in 2020? According to Pantone, the following:

Introducing the Pantone Color of the Year 2020, PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue, a timeless and enduring blue hue elegant in its simplicity. Suggestive of the sky at dusk, the reassuring qualities of Classic Blue offer the promise of protection; highlighting our desire for a dependable and stable foundation from which to build.
As we cross the threshold into a new era, Pantone has translated the hue into a multi-sensory experience to reach a greater diversity of people and provide an opportunity for everyone to engage with the color. We will be tapping into sight, sound, smell, taste, and texture to make the Pantone Color of the Year for 2020 a truly immersive color experience for all

As technology wins the race against the human mind, it comes at no surprise that a trustful and calm color as Classic Blue is what we long for. And then we haven’t even discussed issues such as current politics, climate change and the hunger for more sustainable solutions in almost every industry. We can say the world stands upside down and we’re very aware of it. While seeking solutions for many of our problems, a certain sense of grounding is very welcome. Therefore, we would love to cover ourselves in Classic Blue.
