Givenchy
Givenchy’s Claire Waight Keller designed her new Pre-Fall 2020 collection with its environmental impact on top of mind. Waight Keller is ahead of everyone with a timeless, elegant, minimalistic yet over-the-top collection. Talking about sustainability, Waight Keller relates the topic to timeless pieces that last forever. Where quality is a point of no discussion at Givenchy, timelessness is. Within this collection, Waight Keller combined daywear together with evening wear, alternated with sporty influences and menswear. While this may sound as a hell of a job to many, the creative director composed a timeless and modern assemblage of it.
At this point sustainability comes into play. Besides the party organic and recycled fabrics, timelessness plays a pivotal role. Backstage Waight Keller told: “It’s the throwaway aspect of fashion which is destructive.”
Hence, the creative director is known for designing garments that take care of the wearer. The way in which women move and live their busy lives is a main source of inspiration for every collection. According to Waight Keller, fashion should empower and strengthen rather than withholding women from doing what they love. This given, Givenchy’s collections are durable and created with the end user in mind.
For New York Fashion Week Pre-Fall 2020, Waight Keller created garments with a sense of permanence. The pieces for both men and women are designed to be “relayered“. Wearing a chic, Givenchy-like evening dress during day time? It becomes possible when combining it with a tuxedo pants. Jil Sander
Luke and Lucie Meier have presented a classic Jil Sander Pre-Fall 2020 collection. Since their appointment at the renowned fashion label in 2017, their vision on Jil Sander has evolved. Waists were constricted by thin belts and elegant brooches. Furthermore, shirt dresses played a leading role as well, since both Meiers view a shirt dress as the perfect amalgam of the masculine and feminine.
Furthermore, the creative duo has recently been fascinated by the Viennese Secession movement, in particular by textile designer Maria Lucia Stadlmayer. This movement started in the late 19th century and can be seen as the Viennese answer to Jugendstil. Luke and Lucie Meier used some of Stadlmayer’s patterns and mixed them into their latest collection. These patterns were carefully alternated by silk and jersey items, providing an eclectic mix of old and new.
Hence, the result is a classic Jil Sander collection. with some raw edges and a rich story behind it. We’re excited what Luke and Lucie Meier have in store for the upcoming years.

Preen Line
Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi drew their inspiration from inspiring women in their 30s, with a particular outspoken style that stems from the late 90s. Double-layered slip-dresses were showed together with heavy-looking workwear. The style of their muses is hard to describe, let alone developing a clear picture of the muses themselves.
As a result, Thornton and Bregazzi developed a collection that was full of contradictions and additions at the same time. Consequently bold flowers, checks and leopard prints were alternated by voluminous sleeves and asymmetric skirt lines. It felt like a hint to the utopian melting pot many Americans used to believe in. Hopefully, Preen Line’s collection hints to a positive future.
