Curvy model Jill Kortleve makes history at Chanel

Curvy model Jill Kortleve is one of the hottest models of the moment. Kortleve’s curves are striding on the catwalk like they never have before. And that didn’t stay unnoticed by Virginie Viard, who booked her for the Chanel Fall/Winter 2020 show.

Size diversity on the catwalk

Fashion month has come to an end and closed with a bag. And of course we’re talking about Chanel here. Talking to any random model, they’ll tell you how much they would love to walk a Chanel show.

Many big fashion houses, such as Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga, Jacquemus and Marc Jacobs have embraced diversity on the catwalk. However, some of the most traditional houses have made a slow start in creating size diversity in their campaigns and on their catwalks. Until now: curvy model Jill Kortleve made history when she got casted for Chanel’s Fall/Winter 2020 show. She entered the runway wearing an entirely black suit, combined with next season’s it-item: high black boots.

Curvy model Jill Kortleve started her modeling career a couple of years ago. After struggling with her weight for years, she decided she had to quit modeling. A befriended model agency owner told her she could be herself and still be a model. Back then, this sounded strange. Curvy models weren’t booked for shows and neither for campaigns. However, Kortleve decided to give it a try and started to become a more relaxed person, without anxiety concerning her diet. Read her entire story here.

Since then, Kortleve’s perseverance, sense of humor, relaxed vibe and irresistable beauty brought her very far. Yet still, it doesn’t come at surprise that Korleve was thrilled and very excited she would walk for Chanel during Paris Fashion Week. On Instagram, she wrote:

I can’t believe this just happened but… to end this fashion month, I walked my first fashion show for @chanelofficial. I m so thankful for this moment to happen and for everybody who made this happen; There’s a much needed change happening on the runway and I’m proud and feel grateful to be a part of it. I truly hope that in the future I get to see and work with many more models who used to not fit the briefing. This whole month has been a dream and I never expected that it was even possible for me to walk on the runway, let alone be included in the amazing shows this season. Thank you. My heart is filled with gratitude and love.”

It wasn’t the only big designer label who casted this curvy beauty. Check out below Jill Kortleve’s fashion month in pictures. Hopefully, Kortleve paves the way for other curvy models. Hurray for Jill.
